Baxtian Homes acquired this former agricultural building set in stunning countryside near Marden in the Weald of Kent. Using the existing steel portal frame and retaining the external footprint of the building, Baxtian Homes created three beautiful and unique homes with light and airy interiors and open plan kitchen, living and dining spaces. All of the upstairs bedrooms have balconies with far reaching views overlooking the large gardens with their naturalistic planting which blends into the rural landscape.
A central covered courtyard leads to three integral double garages. Each home also has at least one downstairs bedroom and bathroom which have been specifically included to be wheelchair friendly with level access throughout the ground floor. The homes have all been designed to include energy efficient Air Source Heat Pumps with underfloor heating throughout keeping thermal efficiency high and running costs low. The elevations are beautifully finished with a rough cedar cladding punctuated by aluminium slot windows and bifold doors. The existing roof was replaced with insulated profiled steel panels to retain the agricultural nature of the building.
